A blast from the past! Inspired by the rich traditions and history of the National Hockey League, the NHL Vintage Hockey Collection celebrates the glory of NHL franchises through the years.
To celebrate the signing of NHL goalie Casey DeSmith to the Prodigy Team, Prodigy Discs is releasing a M4 midrange in black 500 Glimmer plastic featuring the fan-favorite Vancouver Canucks mark introduced in 1978, more commonly referred to as the “Flying Skate.” This disc will only be available in Canada through Ace Runners Disc Golf.
DeSmith, National Hockey League veteran and active disc golfer (PDGA #101294), currently plays goalie for the Vancouver Canucks, having joined the team before the 2023-2024 season after five seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"I am thrilled to join Prodigy Disc and continue to promote disc golf in the hockey world. Disc golf has been a passion of mine for eight years now, and I am excited for this opportunity to further introduce the sport into my community," said DeSmith. "I am honored to be part of the NHL and Prodigy efforts and hope that I can be an effective ambassador for both sports. The Prodigy plastic is flying great and I can’t wait to take on the courses in Vancouver with my new discs.”
The Prodigy Disc M4 is an extremely reliable understable midrange disc. It is designed for all players and flies extremely far for a midrange. The M4 will turn up when thrown hard and will then have an extra long glide and a soft straight finish.
500 Plastic has been in development for quite some time, formulated and based on carefully considered player feedback. It has a stiffer, less gummy feel than 400 Plastic. This provides an extremely confident grip on the flight plate, balancing just the right amount of flex and firmness, with a very solid feeling rim. 500 Plastic has a uniquely pearlescent finish, unlike anything else in the Prodigy Disc plastic line.
