DISC GOLF PLASTICS EXPLAINED
LUCID | FUZION | LUCID AIR | LUCID-ICE | SUPREME | CLASSIC | PRIME | MOONSHINE
LUCID
Lucid is a very durable plastic blend. Along with Fuzion, these plastics are described as “premium plastic” for their mix of grip and durability. Players often choose premium plastics for their distance/fairway drivers, midranges, and driving putters, as they’ll generally maintain their flight characteristics longer than other plastics. These plastics are almost all translucent.
FUZION
Fuzion combines the durability of Lucid with an advanced polymer to form a non-transparent blend of plastic. This plastic also provides players with additional grip.
LUCID AIR
Lucid Air uses the same material as Dynamic Discs' durable Lucid plastic. It has solid plastic at the top and bottom of the rim to protect the microbubbles in the plastic on impact. These microbubbles actually make the disc lighter. They are spread out through the top of the disc and middle of the rim to keep the weight distribution nearly identical to Lucid and Fuzion discs.
LUCID-ICE
Lucid-Ice is a premium blend of plastics that provides a stiffness between Lucid and Lucid-X. It has great durability, and more overstable flights compared to regular Lucid.
SUPREME
Combining a soft feel, rigid rim, and perfect flex, Dynamic Discs' Supreme Line gives players superior grip, durability, and comfort.
The days of sharp flashing are over, thanks to NexEdge Technology, a disc-tooling process perfected by Latitude 64. As a result, every Supreme Series disc features a smooth finish along the outer and bottom edges for maximum comfort on every throw.
Thanks to NexFeel technology, a dynamic finishing process reserved exclusively for this premium plastic, Supreme discs feature the enhanced grip, optimum feel, and matchless level of flex players want.
Classic Supreme is the grippy putt and approach plastic in Dynamic Discs' Supreme Line. The combination of a sturdy feel and great grip gives you an edge in your putt and approach game.
CLASSIC
Classic plastics are great for discs like putters and midranges. While these plastics will show wear more than Lucid or Fuzion, they have more grit to their grip and take fewer big hits when used for shorter shots. Classic will show wear less quickly than Prime. Classic comes with three different stiffness levels - soft, medium, and hard.
PRIME
Prime plastic discs are the least expensive discs in Dynamic Discs' line. These discs have great grip in all conditions (including wet conditions) and will beat in more quickly than other plastics, making them great discs for beginners and for anyone who wants a worn-in disc more quickly.
MOONSHINE
Moonshine discs are made with the addition of an additive which adds a glow-in-the-dark-effect to the discs. When playing disc golf during night time, all you need is to grab your flashlight, or any other strong light source, and charge up the glow properties of the plastic. Dynamic Discs has been using its improved Moonshine formula since 2023.
Additional Information
Some molds of the Fuzion, Classic and Prime Line plastic are available as "Burst" discs (two colours mixed in a variation of streaks). Some molds of Lucid-Ice, Fuzion and Supreme Line plastic are available as "Orbit" discs as a result of a two-colour manufacturing process. Patterns and colour combinations for both effects are unique for each individual disc.
Some molds of Lucid Line are available as "Glimmer" discs which have colour shifts combined with a glimmer effect.
With the addition of a glow additive, Lucid and Classic Line plastic are sometimes available as Classic Moonshine and Lucid Moonshine.
Other plastic types such as Lucid-X (a stiffer version of Lucid plastic with increased durability and more overstable flights), Lucid Chameleon, Lucid-X Chameleon and Lucid-X Glimmer are generally only available in the Team Series discs and/or limited runs on selected molds.
Most of Dynamic Discs' discs are available in weight ranges starting at 167 grams. Lighter weight discs are made in Lucid Air plastic.
Discs branded Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64° and Westside Discs (the trio is known as Trilogy) are made in the Latitude 64° factory in Sweden. The following plastic types should be equivalents:
- Retro/Prime/Origio
- Zero/Classic/BT
- Opto/Lucid/VIP
- Gold/Fuzion/Tournament
